HO Scale Desert Layout Project  -  24-8
It is time for an update on my HO layout (after 8 years)

(just click on the 4-digit number for bigger size photos)
As usual, I am taking a huge amount of photos from a scene to show a lot of different views.

We end our layout tour inside Office 2 after the flyover on the shelf to the bridge going to Office 1

along the shelf from the flyover to the bridge going to Office 1 (Office 2)  24-8
Drone shot: As seen from the passage to understand the situation better with the flyover inside Office 2.   WL-3706
Drone shot: Overview just after the flyover with road bridges and the Coffee Shop going to the shelf (left side).   WL-3699
We are inside Office 2 and the lower tracks are going outside to the passage.
There are Werner trucks all over the layout.   WL-3612
The old UP "The Streamliner" bus is on an excursion for UP railfans on the road.   WL-3613
A damaged BNSF Dash8-40BW after a wreck with fire goes to the repair shop.   WL-3614
These Santa Fe Diesels just came from Office 1 over the curved bridge and are rolling on the shelf toward the flyover.   WL-3615
Well, even truck full of consignment models is going to the Trainmaster RR-Shop.  WL-3616
The width of this part is just 40 cm, as it is located inside a wall mounted shelf.   WL-3617
The UP train will cross the street and the cars have to wait.   WL-3618
Back in 2010 I was renting a Cessna (w/pilot of course) to fly over Cajon Pass.  WL-3619
Happy to see a train meet with UP and SF from the plane.   WL-3620
To make the scene interesting, I moved the main street between the 2 tracks and we got a RR-Xing.   WL-3621
Another view (almost street level).   WL-3622
WL-3623
Our truck does great promotion for our business.  WL-3624
Close up of the UP train.  WL-3625
Do not worry, the plane will not crash down but I told the pilot, go closer if possible . . . .   WL-3626
On this photo we can see how the two tracks and the street are sharing the 40 cm width.   WL-3627

These reefers got some graffity.    WL-3643
On the truck there is a Nascar racing car loaded.   WL-3644

To get an idea why this part is called "shelf". This section is just 40 cm wide and really mounted on a shelf. Inside the white part with fold down openings is the staging yard with 6 tracks (ea. 4 m long). We call this "space optimized" inside a living area.   WL-3705
That's the end of the shelf and the tracks are going over a curved bridge to Office 1.
Interesting to know: The whole shelf and the curved bridge are having a 1,5 % down grade.
Outside you can see (out of focus) the Percyville Extension.    WL-3702
We end our layout tour inside Office 2 after the flyover on the shelf to the bridge going to Office 1.
Thank you for your time to see the huge amount of photos from our 10/25 update on 8 diff. pages.

The City of Percyville - from Super 8 to McDonalds (Passage)   24-1

On the left side the double track main line is going into Office 2.  WL-3467
On the right side we have a McDonald's and it continues with Werner Enterprises going to Office 1. WL-3382

Percyville - Werner Enterprises (Passage/Office 1)   24-2

Werner Enterprises is one of the top 5 trucking companies in the USA.  WL-3447
As my name is Werner, I wanted to create a WE Terminal on my layout.  WL-3344

Percyville  -  Extension (Office 1)   24-3

The Percyville Extension was built just after the combined road and train bridge coming from the WE Terminal.  WL-3406
Overview with bridge, Extension and continuation toward the EAST side Tunnels.  WL-3419

Tunnels EAST side (Office 1) and WEST side (Office 2)   24-4

Tunnels EAST side: From Office 1 we have to pass a wall into Office 2.  WL-3605
Tunnels WEST side: We are inside Office 2. Double main in front is going uphill and rear tracks are going downhill.  WL-3585

Legendary Hill 582 in Cajon Pass (Office 2)  24-5

On my layout, my miniature version of Hill 582 was turned by 90 ° because of space limitations.  WL-3663
But with some imagination, we feel like being in the Mojave Desert (Cajon Pass) and dreaming of the real thing.  WL-3540

Mormon Rocks in Cajon Pass w/Hwy 138 (Office 2)   24-6

The Mormon Rock formations are along Highway 138. UP (former SP) and BNSF tracks are passing.  WL-3510
In real, there are no more street level crossings but with 2 street overpasses (BNSF) and 1 street underpass (UP).  WL-3667

from the Mormon Rocks to the Flyover (upper and lower level)  (Office 2)  24-7

We are standing in the passage and looking into Office 2 to get an overview from the crossover to the Mormon Rocks. WL-3568
(sorry, the rear section is not sharp)
Drone shot: The flyover is having a bridge and a short tunnel.   WL-3697
Inside Office 2 a Santa Fe train is leaving the short tunnel under the upper track toward the Mormon Rocks.  WL-3495

I started with my layout in late December 2007 and it was finally finshed in late September 2015.
The main reason why I was not able to finish my layout faster was because we had the 14th CV in 2009
and the 15th (Final) CV in 2012. As of being their organizer I used all my sparetime for the CV's.
In the meantime, I made some detailing with city signs, billboards, figures, vehicles etc.
Thank you for your interest in my Mojave Desert Layout - Werner Meer
