Cajon Pass 3rd Main Track Construction by BNSF in 2007 and
2008
BNSF was building a 3rd Main Track thru Cajon Pass. It was built along the # 1 (north) track (2,2 % grade). The only 2 tunnels in Cajon have been daylighted. This one of a time project was completed on November 07, 2008. We are having a total of 9 pages for the 3MT Project - just click on the link in every column. |

For those who are interested in
big construction projects, we are having a link for the construction of the
longest railway tunnel in the world. It is currently under construction thru the
Alps in Switzerland with a length of 57 km / 35,4 mls (actually two single track tunnels).
