Cleghorn Exit - Cajon Station Mormon Rocks - Pine Lodge - Stein's Hill - Hwy 138 |
This time, I took photos (5550) from these locations: Summit, Silverwood, WSI,
Hill 582, Alray
(former Tunnel area), Mormon Rocks, Stein's Hill, around Highway 138,
Sullivan's Curve, Cajon Station, old Route 66 (Cajon Blvd.), Swarthout Canyon Road and finally San Bernardino. As I went to several overlooks high above, I was trying to
take photos from far away. Not every photo was good because of the long distance,
haze and the heavy wind. Please note: As a train does not only exist of the locos but all the cars, I made plenty photos of the different cars (incl. graffiti). I also visited the Fontana Terminal of Werner Enterprises trucking company. Cleghorn Exit Ramp (off I-15 SB), just above Cajon Station.
Today, I went on I-15 NB, took the Hwy 138 exit 131, made a U-turn back on I-15 SB and took the Cleghorn Road Exit 129. But I did not drive down to Cleghorn Rd and Rt 66, but just went to the edge of the exit ramp facing to Cajon Station. Because of the sunlight, this mission can only be done in the morning. So, I started my photo shooting at 06.52 h. (66 pics) | ||

Afterwards, I made a U-turn at Cleghorn exit 129 back on I-15 NB and went
off at Hwy 138 exit 131. The Mormon Rocks are also in beautiful morning

is the last photo taken from BNSF MT-2 side. I moved to Stein's Hill which
is closer to BNSF MT-3, actually between all BNSF tracks. I am satisfied because I got 11 trains within 4 hours. But the show continues as seen from Stein's Hill with 2 BNSF trains at the same time. The quality of the following photos is not that good because of the long distance and use of the zoom lens. |

After photo 5299, I left Stein's Hill, drove onto Hwy 138, entered I-15 SB,
exited at Cleghorn Road (Exit 129), continued on Route 66 (Cajon Blvd.) and
after Blue Cut, I reached Train 16 (UP SB) photo 5300. At the same time,
there was a BNSF EB Intermodal Train 17. In the foreground is Cajon Creek. I do not remember, why I left Cajon in the middle of the afternoon on Day 12? Well, it is too long ago as I was adding these photos 3 years later (7/14). |
