Cajon Pass Photo
Collection May 28 - June 5, 2010 |
by Werner Meer (Switzerland) |
9 albums (see below)
After almost 2 years, the time has come to visit Cajon Pass and our friends from
Hill 582 again. As we are staying far away (Switzerland), it still takes 12 1/2
hours to fly from Zurich to Los Angeles. Thanks to Swiss Intl. Airlines who
provides a non-stop service to LAX. In addition, we should not forget the big
time difference of 9 hours! This time, Melinda (my wife) came also along
and she sure enjoyed this trip, doing a lot of railfanning. We also met Beat
& Christa Wuest (Switzerland) and we had 2 fantastic days in exploring Cajon
Pass from Summit to Silverwood, Hill 582, Alray, Mormon Rocks, Sullivan's Curve
down to Swarthout Canyon Road and old Route 66 (Cajon Blvd). Afterwards, we met
our Hill 582 friends (Don Toles, Gary Gray, Keith Schreiber, Jerry Shinar, Lane
Frank w/Helen and family, Bruce and Joy Jones). In addition, we also met a group
of 5 Swiss people on Hill 582. Stefan, Eugen, Diego and Nicole & Matthias. And on June 2, we
(Stefan & Werner) took the opportunity to see Cajon Pass from the air. Apple
Valley Aviation provided us with a plane and a fantastic Pilot to take photos
and movies from the air. We also visited the Fontana Terminal of Werner Enterprises trucking company. A great experience to see the real thing as I am building an HO scale layout (1/87) with Trucks & Trailers of Werner Enterprises. List of photographers: Beat & Christa Wuest, Stefan Wagner, Eugen Hänseler, Werner & Melinda Meer (Switzerland). Guest photographers: Gary G. Gray, Keith Schreiber (USA). A big thank you for sharing these excellent pictures with us. Note: The copyright belongs to these people. Do not use any photos without written permission.
