Akane Model Trains, SP, 2-8-8-4, AC-9, P/P, Special Paint
Scheme (K) on Collector's request not for sale - private collection |
We are aware, SP's 2-8-8-4, AC-9 Locos did never ever
have a silver boiler and an orange smokebox. This paint scheme was inspired
by the SP Black Widow Colors. But on the other hand, this
one-of-a-kind paint scheme looks outstanding and it will be an eyecatcher on
a layout full of black locos. This excellent paint job was done by Rail Services, Switzerland. |

4/17: After all, the collector of this particular model was not fully satisfied with this special paint scheme he created and therefore, he was asking to do a partial repaint job. The orange color was replaced with red color (smoke box and all pipings) plus the silver cab roof got red as well. Even the first version did reflect the SP Black Widow colors red/orange/silver/black as requested, the new version looks much more equalized in red/silver/black. |
